Paper Towns

The book Paper Towns by John Green brings up the topic of having strings in your life. You could have a lot of strings but you at least need one. In the story, Margo Roth Spiegelman seems to have lost hers.
One night Margo came for Quentin and she was doing all these things to get back at her new enemies. When they were relaxing for a bit at the SunTrust Building, Margo bought up the idea of paper towns. She talked about paper towns and paper people, more specifically the paper girl she was. Then she bought up her last string. "But is was the last string. It was a lame string, for sure, but it was the only one I had left, and every paper girl needs at least one string right?"(58).
After that they spent the night doing every thing else on Margo's plan, which included breaking into sea world. After they break into Sea World and go home, Margo whispers in Q's ear, "I. Will. Miss. Hanging. Out. With. You."(81), Q tells her that she doesn't have to and that she's welcome to hang out with him and her friends. She whispered, "I'm afraid that's not possible."(81). Margo then goes inside her house and Q into his. Margo might have hinted something about her string here. After her last string broke off, what was she left to do?
The next days Margo didn't go to school and she ran away from home. Q didn't know where she could have gone to. Q entered her room and found a poetry book with a poem that was highlighted. Based on the other clues that were left by Margo, there was only one possible reason why she could have run away from home; she was going to commit suicide. And the only reason she was going to commit suicide was because all of her strings were gone.
So everyone needs at least one string. You can have a lot but try not to lose them. Of you lose all of them, please don't run away or try to hurt yourself. I've learned that lesson. Just think of this, if you lose that last string, make a new one. "Every paper girl needs at least one string right?"
